Custom Boat Interiors: Joinery & Design Services

Seefeld Boatworks will make your boat look fantastic down below, whether it’s an old classic or a newer wooden construction. Our boat design and joinery services span from simple repairs to entirely new yacht interiors. We work with a variety of domestic and imported woods, we custom-fabricate hardware, and we appreciate an intricate assignment for a custom boat interior.

Let our team know what type of boat interior repair or customization you need.

Marine Joinery & Custom Hardware

Joinery refers to fine woodworking to create components like marine cabinets, furniture, hatches, trim, rails, and more. We typically build and finish these in our shop, which is in northern Michigan, and make the pieces as modular as possible. This way, we can accommodate you if you don’t live in our area, and we don’t have to steal your boat the whole time! There’s more info about logistics below.

Hardware is not an afterthought for us. From hinges to latches to fasteners, we think the hardware should be just as high-quality and period-appropriate as the joinery. If what you need can’t be found on a store shelf, we can look into designing and fabricating it for you!

Design Services

We offer wooden boat design services focused mainly on interior elements and hardware. We’re always excited to provide designs for small or large applications, including full interiors. As your boat design consultants, our goals are to clarify your vision and make it all feasible. We provide comprehensive 2D and 3D modeling. Then there’s a round of feedback before fabrication begins.

Timelines, Logistics, and Some Eye Candy

Modern and classic wooden boat interiors take time. Depending on the scope of your project, it may be done in one season or in steps over multiple seasons. We can set expectations for a timeline after we complete our initial evaluation or design services.

We usually don’t have to be in possession of your boat the entire time we’re working on the interior elements. However, we do need to spend significant time with it when we’re kicking off the project. You can bring it in or we’ll come to you (yes, we travel) to fully evaluate the project, make patterns, and take measurements. After that, we’ll know how much work we can do remotely before reuniting with the boat to finish everything.

Now, the eye candy! One great example of a Seefeld Boatworks custom boat interior is Alliance, a 105-foot three-masted schooner. We were fortunate to work on this beauty, which is part of the fleet at Inland Seas Education Association.
