Wooden Boat Caulking & Reefing Services
A traditional vessel stays strong and safe when you prioritize the correct methods of caulking and reefing. With Seefeld Boatworks, your project is in good hands.
If you have a traditional carvel plank boat, it requires cotton caulking, rolled oakum, or a combination of both applied between the planking and driven in. Some people might tell you this isn’t necessary, but the structural integrity and water tightness of a carvel boat is dependent on the caulking. If your wooden boat has another planking style, it may still need caulking at certain joints, such as the keel or garboard joint.
Give your boat the proper care, and it will serve you well for years to come.
